The Sri Lanka Natural History Society (SLNHS) is hosting a public lecture titled "From the Zoo to the Wild – A Wildlife Veterinarian's Journey" at the University of Colombo on 20 October. The eighth public lecture of 2026 will feature Dr Ganga, whose career spans both captive animal care and field-based conservation efforts.

The lecture will examine the distinct challenges facing wildlife veterinarians working across different environments, from zoo settings to remote field locations. Participants will gain insight into the practical complexities of animal health management in conservation contexts.

Human-wildlife coexistence will form a key component of the discussion, addressing how veterinary expertise contributes to sustainable solutions in regions where human populations and wildlife interact. The lecture aims to highlight the role of veterinary medicine in broader conservation strategies across South Asia.

The SLNHS regularly organizes public lectures to promote awareness of natural history and conservation issues among Sri Lankan audiences. The event is open to the general public, students, and professionals with an interest in wildlife conservation and veterinary science.
