MANILA — A personal assistant to a former Public Works engineer told the Sandiganbayan Third Division on Thursday that kickbacks allegedly given to ex-Ako Bicol party-list Representative Zaldy Co came with acknowledgment receipts. Wirt Walter Rosales, who worked for engineer Henry Alcantara, provided the testimony during bail hearings in the anti-graft court. The existence of acknowledgment receipts could bolster prosecutors' case by providing documentary evidence of the alleged transactions. Rosales' statements mark a significant development in the corruption investigation targeting Co and the alleged involvement of Public Works officials. The Sandiganbayan continues to hear evidence in the case as it determines bail conditions for the accused.
