Witness testifies P6M Carpio property absent from Duterte's 2025 SALN

A Davao City property official testified on Wednesday that the value of a P6 million property owned by Vice President Sara Duterte's husband does not match any assets declared in her 2025 Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth.

Kathy Baldonado, a lawyer with the Davao City Register of Deeds, presented testimony during the 32nd day of the vice president's impeachment trial, stating that none of the properties listed in Duterte's latest SALN filing corresponded to the P6 million property in question.

The witness's account forms part of the ongoing impeachment proceedings against the vice president, during which legislators have been examining the completeness and accuracy of her financial disclosures. The property in question is reportedly owned by her husband, sparking questions about whether it should have been included in her annual SALN filing.

Under Philippine law, all government officials and employees are required to file a comprehensive SALN detailing their assets, liabilities, and net worth each year. Discrepancies between actual property holdings and SALN declarations can constitute grounds for administrative or legal action.

The impeachment trial, which began in late 2024, has examined various aspects of the vice president's conduct and official disclosures. Duterte has faced multiple allegations requiring legislative scrutiny throughout the proceedings.
