Woman alleges rape after man denies marriage promise in Uttar Pradesh

A woman in Kaushambi district, Uttar Pradesh, has accused a village youth of multiple sexual assaults after he allegedly broke his marriage promise upon learning of her pregnancy. According to the complaint, the woman became pregnant after the accused's repeated acts of physical relations, which he claimed were conditional on marriage. When she reached four months of pregnancy, the man refused to honour his commitment, prompting her family to approach police. The Kaddam police station registered a first information report (FIR) against the accused youth following the family's complaint. Authorities have also referred the victim to the district hospital for medical examination as part of the investigation process. The case is being investigated under relevant sections addressing sexual assault and breach of matrimonial promise under Indian law.
