A married woman in Bijapur district has approached police with allegations that her father-in-law sexually coerced her and attempted to record intimate moments without consent. According to the complaint, the accused exploited the woman's marital circumstances, allegedly pressuring her into unwanted physical relations and threatening to use recorded videos for blackmail purposes.

The woman's family alleged that despite settling an initial dowry of 25 lakh rupees at the time of marriage, the groom's family subsequently demanded an additional 5 lakh rupees and a car. When the bride's family resisted these demands, they claimed members of the groom's family subjected them to physical assault.

Police have registered a case against the husband, father-in-law and five other family members based on the complaint. The charges include coercion, sexual harassment, attempted blackmail through intimate recordings, and criminal intimidation. Investigators have begun examining evidence related to the alleged video recordings and documenting statements from the complainant and her family members.

The case underscores persistent issues of dowry harassment and sexual exploitation within some households in the region. Authorities have indicated that the investigation will examine the roles of each accused and whether criminal conspiracy charges are warranted in connection with the systematic demands for money and valuables.
