A woman and her two young sons were killed after being struck by a Chennai Central Suburban to Tiruchanur MEMU train near Arakkonam railway station on the outskirts of Tamil Nadu's industrial belt. The victims have been identified as K. Valli, 27, and her sons K. Bharath, 7, and K. Santhosh, 3. The incident occurred when the family was attempting to cross the railway tracks in the vicinity of the station. The commuter train, which was in transit, struck the group, resulting in fatal injuries. Railway authorities have begun preliminary investigations into the circumstances that led to the family attempting to cross at an unauthorized location. The incident underscores ongoing safety concerns regarding level crossings and pedestrian access to railway tracks in the region. Local officials said the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination as part of standard procedures.
