Woman attacked by jackal; pet pit bulls intervene, kill predator

A woman in Asraurah village of Bahraich district was attacked by a jackal while working in her field, sustaining bite wounds to her legs and both arms. The animal's assault forced the woman to attempt a defensive measure by pressing down on the jackal's mouth in a bid to protect herself from further injury.

Two pit bull dogs accompanying the woman—named Tiger and Mota—rushed to her aid during the encounter. The animals engaged the jackal and killed it before it could inflict further harm on their owner.

The woman was subsequently taken for medical treatment for her injuries. Jackal attacks, while uncommon in the region, have occasionally occurred in rural areas of Uttar Pradesh where human settlements border wildlife habitats. Authorities have not issued any formal statement regarding the incident.
