Woman Dies After Being Set Ablaze in Rajasthan Dowry Case

A 21-year-old woman identified as Hina Bheel succumbed to her injuries at a hospital in Jaisalmer following a severe burn incident on the night of September 21. According to a complaint filed by her family, petrol was poured on her before she was set ablaze, allegedly by members of her husband's household.

Hina's parents have accused her husband and in-laws of subjecting her to prolonged harassment over dowry demands and engaging in coercive superstitious practices. The family also alleged that the accused attempted to prevent her from conceiving children and conspired to seize her ancestral land.

Local police registered a case following the complaint and arrested four individuals in connection with the incident. The arrests were made after preliminary investigation revealed evidence supporting the allegations of intentional harm. The case has been registered under relevant sections pertaining to dowry-related offenses and culpable homicide.
