Woman dies in Quezon house fire after refusing evacuation

LUCENA CITY — A 65-year-old woman lost her life in a residential fire in Sariaya town, Quezon province, on Sunday after she refused to leave her burning house, according to a police report released Monday.
Quezon police said a male relative discovered the fire at the residence in Barangay Lutucan Bata and immediately entered the structure in an attempt to rescue the woman. Despite his efforts, the relative was unable to persuade her to evacuate the premises.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the house engulfed in flames. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, marking another fatal outcome in a residential fire incident in the region.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities are continuing to gather information from witnesses and the relative who attempted the rescue to determine how the blaze started.
