Woman held at Delhi airport over ₹60 lakh German citizenship scheme

The woman was apprehended at IGI Airport following a probe into allegations that she was operating an illegal citizenship facilitation racket. Police remanded her to two days of custody to enable further investigation into the matter.

According to the preliminary findings, the accused had been collecting substantial sums from individuals seeking to relocate to Germany under the guise of arranging citizenship documentation and legal migration assistance. The ₹60 lakh amount represents funds collected from multiple clients, authorities said.

Investigators are currently tracing the money trail to establish the full extent of the operation. Officials are also examining the potential involvement of other individuals who may have been part of the scheme, including possible contacts in Germany or intermediaries within India.

The case adds to ongoing concerns about immigration fraud networks operating in major Indian cities. Authorities have intensified vigilance at international airports to detect such schemes, which often target aspirants seeking opportunities abroad.
