Authorities in Munger have closed a seven-year missing persons case after locating Mousam Kumari in Hyderabad, bringing an unexpected resolution to what had been treated as a disappearance from her in-laws' home in 2019.
Police said technical investigation and digital tracking led them to the woman in the southern city, where she has been residing with a man named Zubair. The couple has two children together, according to the police account.
During questioning, Kumari reportedly stated that she had left her matrimonial home of her own volition and chose to remain with her companion. Her statement indicated the departure was deliberate rather than involuntary, resolving earlier concerns about her safety.
The case underscores the challenges law enforcement faces in distinguishing between cases of missing persons and voluntary departures, particularly when family members report disappearances. Officials said the technical investigation methods ultimately proved instrumental in locating the woman and clarifying the circumstances of her absence.
