Woman robbed of P135,000 after bank withdrawal in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY — Suspected robbers attacked a woman and made off with P135,000 in cash in Barangay Rosary Heights 2 here on Friday afternoon, September 4, according to local police. The victim, identified only as "Mercy," had just withdrawn the funds from a local bank when she was targeted by the attackers. Colonel Jibin Bongcayao, Cotabato City police director, confirmed the incident and said the woman sustained gunshot wounds during the robbery.
The attack occurred during an election gun ban period in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), which restricts the possession and use of firearms to maintain peace during electoral processes. Police have launched an investigation into the incident to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The robbery highlights ongoing security concerns for residents conducting financial transactions in the city, particularly those carrying large amounts of cash from banking institutions.
