A young woman from Agra in Uttar Pradesh has been found dead under suspicious circumstances, with police arresting her boyfriend in connection with the case. Vishakha left her residence on September 29 and did not return home. After the family's initial attempts to contact her proved unsuccessful, they filed a missing persons report with local authorities.
The investigation led police to identify a man employed as a lekhpal, or revenue official, who had been in a romantic relationship with the deceased. According to police statements, the couple had been in dispute over marriage-related issues. The relationship appears to have been the focal point of the investigation as authorities worked to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.
Eight days after her disappearance, Vishakha's body was recovered on the banks of the Yamuna river in Itawah, concealed inside a sack. The discovery prompted the immediate arrest of the lekhpal on suspicion of involvement in her death. However, key details about the exact cause of death and the events leading up to her demise remain unclear as the investigation continues.
