Bancroft Hall at the United States Naval Academy in Maryland holds the distinction of being the world's largest dormitory, according to facility records. The colossal structure encompasses 1.4 million square feet of floor space and contains 1,639 individual rooms designed to house its resident population of over 4,600 naval trainees.

The scale of the facility is remarkable in its logistics. The building stretches across an equivalent of 7 kilometres of corridors, connecting various sections of the dormitory. The complex has grown so vast that it has been assigned its own ZIP code, enabling efficient postal and delivery operations within the structure itself.

Bancroft Hall operates as a self-contained community equipped with comprehensive amenities. Beyond the residential quarters, the facility houses a medical clinic, gymnasium, post office, and dining hall, ensuring that occupants can access essential services without leaving the building.
