Xi Jinping arrives in New Delhi for 18th BRICS Summit, to meet Modi
Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in New Delhi to attend the 18th BRICS Summit, marking his first visit to India in nearly seven years. The Chinese leader is expected to hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the summit's sidelines.

President Xi departed Beijing on Saturday morning for the summit, which is being held at India's invitation. His delegation includes several senior Communist Party officials, among them Standing Committee member Cai Qi, who serves as director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a Political Bureau member.
The bilateral meeting between the two leaders will represent the third consecutive year they have held talks, following previous engagements in Kazan and other venues. China's Foreign Ministry has signalled the importance of the Modi-Xi dialogue, with spokesperson Mao Ning highlighting the significance of the meeting at a media briefing.
The 18th BRICS Summit brings together leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa to discuss regional and global matters of mutual concern. The gathering comes amid ongoing efforts by the bloc to expand its influence and coordinate positions on key international issues affecting developing nations across multiple continents.
