Yang di-Pertuan Agong confers honour on Egyptian President El-Sisi

Sultan Ibrahim, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, has bestowed the Darjah Utama Seri Mahkota Negara (Grand Order of the Defender of the Realm) on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during the latter's state visit to Malaysia.

The honour, one of Malaysia's highest national decorations, was conferred as El-Sisi undertakes a two-day working visit to the country. The investiture reflects the strengthening diplomatic ties between Malaysia and Egypt, two significant nations in their respective regions.

El-Sisi's visit to Malaysia provides an opportunity for high-level discussions between the two governments on matters of mutual interest, including bilateral cooperation, regional security, and economic partnership.

The conferment of national honours to visiting heads of state is a customary diplomatic practice that underscores the importance Malaysia places on its international relationships. El-Sisi's visit marks a significant engagement between the Southeast Asian nation and the Middle Eastern power.
