Yemen conflict displaces over 200,000 people as fighting intensifies

More than 200,000 people have been displaced since fighting resumed in Yemen, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which has described the situation as deeply alarming.

The renewed violence between Iran-backed Houthi militants and Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces has intensified the humanitarian emergency across the Arabian Peninsula's most populous country. Civilians caught in active combat zones face impossible choices, abandoning homes and livelihoods to escape the escalating violence.

The displacement crisis compounds existing challenges in Yemen, where infrastructure has been decimated by years of conflict and economic collapse. The IOM's assessment reflects mounting concerns about the welfare of displaced populations, many lacking access to adequate shelter, clean water, and medical services.

The conflict has created one of the world's worst humanitarian emergencies, with millions of Yemenis dependent on aid for survival. International organizations continue calling for de-escalation and humanitarian access to reach those affected by the violence.
