Yemen's government military command announced the casualty figures via social media, stating that 1,860 Houthi fighters were killed or incapacitated during the recent campaign. The operations were described as precision strikes targeting militant positions across contested areas of the country.
According to the military statement, forces executed 2,103 separate targeting operations as part of the ongoing campaign against the Houthi movement. The government did not specify the timeframe over which these operations occurred or provide details about the locations targeted.
The claims could not be independently verified. The Houthis, a Yemen-based militant organization with backing from Iran, have been engaged in a prolonged conflict with Yemen's government forces and Saudi-led coalition allies since 2015. Casualty figures released by opposing sides in the conflict are routinely difficult to verify.
The announcement reflects continued military tensions in Yemen, where fighting has caused a severe humanitarian crisis affecting millions of civilians. International observers have warned that the ongoing conflict has devastated infrastructure and displaced large portions of the population.
