Yogi Demands Apology Before Opposition Leader Visits Ayodhya Temple

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday issued a pointed statement suggesting that those responsible for alleged past violence against Ram devotees should seek forgiveness before visiting the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Speaking at the 10th edition of Deepotsav celebrations, Adityanath said such individuals should apologize both to devotees and religious leaders before entering the temple premises.
"Those who have neglected and insulted Ayodhya in the past, who opened fire on Ram devotees and subjected saints to lathicharge, should certainly come to Ayodhya, but only after apologising," the chief minister stated. He called on visitors to repent for their actions, though he did not explicitly name any political party or individual.
The statement came within hours of the announcement that Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav would visit the Ram Temple on December 12. The timing suggests Adityanath's remarks were directed at the opposition leader, reflecting ongoing political tensions between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh.
The Deepotsav event, attended by Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and Governor Anandiben Patel, showcased the state government's focus on the newly constructed Ram Temple as a symbol of cultural pride and development in the region.
