Young fisherman rescued after drifting in swollen river while asleep

A young fisherman in Banda district was rescued after being swept away by a swollen river while sleeping in his boat during monsoon rains. The incident occurred when the man, who had ventured into the river to fish, fell asleep on his vessel and was carried off by the strong current.

When the fisherman failed to return home through the night, his concerned family members alerted local authorities. Police promptly initiated a search and rescue operation to locate the missing man.

A coordinated effort involving local police, trained divers, PAC personnel, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was mobilized to search the river. The teams combed through several kilometers of the waterway as the current continued to carry the drifting boat downstream.

After an extensive search operation, the fisherman was spotted and safely retrieved near Sindhan Kala village, approximately five kilometers from where he went missing. He was handed over to his relieved family members in stable condition. The rescue operation highlighted the dangers posed by heavy rainfall and rising water levels in river systems during the monsoon season.
