MELAKA — Farzana Hayani Mohd Nas, fielded by the Pakatan Harapan coalition, is banking on her youth and advocacy for marginalised groups as she contests the Kelebang parliamentary seat, undeterred by her unsuccessful first attempt at electoral office.
The candidate, among the youngest in the current race, has made addressing the needs of women and young voters central to her campaign platform. Her focus reflects broader efforts by opposition parties to mobilise younger demographics and female voters ahead of the general election.
Hayani's previous contest in the Sungai Rambai constituency did not result in victory, but political analysts note that repeat candidacies are common among opposition figures seeking to build name recognition and expand their voter base across multiple election cycles.
The Kelebang seat remains a closely watched battleground in Melaka, a state that has seen shifting political fortunes in recent years. Candidates vying for the seat are emphasising diverse policy platforms ranging from economic development to social welfare provisions.
As campaigning intensifies, Hayani's emphasis on gender equality and youth engagement positions her within a broader trend of Malaysian political parties attempting to appeal to voters seeking fresh perspectives and alternative policy agendas.
