A 23-year-old man identified as Lalit died after falling from the third floor of a building in Rawli, within the Rakabganj police station jurisdiction in Agra, during a police raid targeting an illegal gambling operation on Wednesday. The incident occurred when law enforcement personnel were conducting the enforcement action at the premises. Immediately following the death, tensions escalated in the area as residents blocked roads and staged protests. Lalit's family members alleged that police personnel had assaulted the young man and subsequently thrown him from the building's roof, claims that contradict the official account of events. The allegations have sparked significant public concern regarding the circumstances of the death. In response to the incident, the Agra Police Department has suspended two constables—Shivam Rathi and Akash Sharma—pending investigation. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) confirmed the suspensions and transferred the case to Additional Commissioner of Police Chatta for a detailed inquiry. The investigation is expected to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal fall.
