The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has called for an all-party meeting with election authorities ahead of the scheduled local body elections in Andhra Pradesh, seeking to address procedural concerns regarding the electoral process.
The party has specifically requested that ward-wise electoral rolls be prepared only after the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter registrations. The YSRCP contends that following this sequence will ensure the accuracy and completeness of the voter rolls for the municipal elections.
The move reflects the party's attempt to engage with other political stakeholders and election officials on the technical aspects of the polling process. The timing and methodology of voter roll compilation has emerged as a key issue of discussion among parties preparing for the local body contests.
The all-party meeting is expected to facilitate dialogue on electoral procedures and address potential concerns from multiple parties before the commencement of the voting process. The state's election commission has yet to respond formally to the YSRCP's request for the consolidated meeting.
