The YSR Congress Party has escalated its challenge to the Andhra Pradesh government by demanding a CBI investigation into the 2025 Degree-level recruitment examination. Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the state government had constituted a Special Investigation Team to examine the recruitment process, adding that the SIT's findings showed no irregularities in the Group-I examination.
According to Reddy, the YSRCP has already written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking a federal-level inquiry into the recruitment process. The opposition party has framed its demand as a challenge to the current government, suggesting that transparency would be best served through an independent central agency investigation.
The comments came amid ongoing scrutiny of recruitment processes in Andhra Pradesh, with the YSRCP seeking to highlight what it characterizes as the impartiality of the SIT's examination. The party's push for CBI involvement reflects broader political tensions surrounding civil service recruitment in the state, a sensitive issue that has previously triggered protests and public debate.
Telugu Desam Party leader N. Chandrababu Naidu's coalition government has faced mounting pressure regarding various administrative matters since taking office. The opposition's demand for heightened federal oversight signals its intent to maintain pressure on recruitment transparency and governance issues ahead of future electoral contests.
