YSRCP MP breached election norms in Andhra Pradesh municipality visit

The Annamayya Superintendent of Police has filed allegations against YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders for breaching Security and Election Commission (SEC) protocols during a visit to Punganur Municipality. According to the complaint, YSRCP Member of Parliament Midhun Reddy led a group of approximately 100 party workers and followers who forcibly crossed security barricades and gates at the municipal premises.

The unauthorized incursion allegedly violated election conduct rules that regulate political activities and public gatherings in sensitive areas. Election Commission guidelines restrict large political mobilizations and unauthorized entry into government facilities during election periods to maintain order and prevent communal tensions.

The incident has drawn scrutiny from local election authorities, who are examining whether the breach constituted a violation of model code of conduct regulations. The matter underscores ongoing tensions between political parties and election oversight mechanisms in Andhra Pradesh.

This development comes amid heightened electoral vigilance in the state, where enforcement agencies have been tasked with ensuring compliance with election norms across all constituencies. The YSRCP has not issued an immediate response to the allegations.
