YSRCP slams Revenue Minister over alleged threats to employee unions

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has escalated its criticism of Andhra Pradesh's Revenue Minister, alleging that he has been threatening employee union leaders in the state. The opposition party described the incidents as an attack on workers' rights and union representation, demanding immediate intervention to protect labour leaders from intimidation.

The party has seized on the controversy to renew a broader set of demands from the state government. Key among these is the clearance of approximately ₹40,000 crore in outstanding dues owed to employees and pensioners. The YSRCP has also called for the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), which it says would provide greater security to state workers.

Additionally, the opposition party is pushing for the implementation of the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC), arguing that employees are entitled to improved compensation following the earlier pay commission recommendations. The YSRCP framed these demands as essential measures to address long-standing grievances of the state's workforce.

The party's criticism reflects ongoing tensions between the current state government and employee unions over wages, pension structures, and working conditions. The allegations against the Revenue Minister have intensified pressure on the government to address the financial obligations and policy changes demanded by labour representatives and opposition parties.
