Delhi Capitals, jointly owned by JSW Sports and GMR, announced the appointment of Yuvraj Singh to their coaching staff on Tuesday. The veteran cricketer, who represented India in 304 ODIs, 40 Tests, and 58 T20 Internationals, brings considerable experience having mentored numerous established and emerging Indian cricketers in recent years.
Yuvraj, a multiple World Cup winner, will be making his IPL coaching debut with the franchise. The appointment represents a homecoming of sorts for the left-hander, who previously played for Delhi during the 2015 season when the team was known as Delhi Daredevils.
In 2015, Delhi secured Yuvraj's services for Rs 16 crore, a record transfer fee that made him the most expensive player in IPL history at the time. The franchise retained his services for all 14 matches that season, demonstrating their confidence in the accomplished batsman.
The coaching appointment comes as Delhi Capitals prepare for the upcoming IPL campaign, strengthening their support structure with Yuvraj's extensive experience in international and domestic cricket. His transition to a formal coaching role adds another chapter to his post-playing cricket career.
