Yuvraj Singh, the left-handed batsman who played a pivotal role in India's 2011 Cricket World Cup triumph, has taken on the position of batting coach at Delhi Capitals. The appointment brings together Singh and Ganguly, his former captain and teammate, as the franchise bolsters its coaching setup ahead of the upcoming season.
The 42-year-old Singh retired from international cricket in 2019 after representing India in 40 Test matches, 304 one-day internationals, and 58 Twenty20 internationals. Known for his aggressive batting style and match-winning performances across formats, Singh has since remained involved in cricket through various capacities.
Ganguly, who took charge as Delhi Capitals chairman, has been instrumental in strengthening the franchise's infrastructure and support systems. Singh's appointment as batting coach underscores the franchise's commitment to enhance their technical expertise, particularly in grooming and developing their batting lineup for competitive tournament performances.
The coaching addition comes as Delhi Capitals aim to build on their recent performances in the Indian Premier League. Singh's experience at the highest levels of international and franchise cricket is expected to provide valuable insights to the team's batting unit during training and match preparations.
