Zambales provincial board approved the calamity declaration on Friday, following a formal recommendation from the Provincial Disaster Risk Management Office. The move came after the enhanced habagat monsoon and consecutive tropical weather systems triggered widespread flooding across the region, affecting thousands of residents and damaging homes, agricultural areas, and critical infrastructure.

Bataan has similarly declared a state of calamity as floodwaters inundated communities throughout the province. Authorities reported significant damage to farmland and residential areas, with some municipalities experiencing the worst conditions in recent memory. Local government units activated emergency response protocols to assist affected families and conduct search and rescue operations where necessary.

The formal calamity declarations position both provinces to access the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund, which provides financial assistance for relief operations, rehabilitation efforts, and support to displaced residents. Provincial officials urged the national government for additional disaster response support as cleanup and recovery efforts continue across affected areas.

The habagat and associated weather systems have impacted multiple regions across Luzon, with authorities advising residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant as weather conditions persist. Provincial governments are coordinating with national disaster agencies to monitor conditions and prepare for potential additional flooding.
