Zamboanga school shooter's father cooperative, not implicated: official

MANILA — The parent of the suspected shooter in the fatal Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) Junior High School shooting is cooperating fully with investigators and has not been implicated in the incident, according to Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla.

Remulla made the statement on Thursday regarding the father's involvement in the case. The official indicated that initial findings show no culpability on the part of the parent in connection with the shooting.

The incident claimed two lives, including a Grade 10 student and the alleged Grade 8 shooter, authorities said. The shooting occurred at the private educational institution's junior high school campus in Zamboanga City.

The disclosure came as law enforcement continues its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting. Authorities are working to establish a complete account of events leading up to the incident and determining the motive behind the attack.
