PAGADIAN CITY — A municipal mayor in Zamboanga Sibugay has ordered a comprehensive investigation into illegal gambling operations after law enforcement conducted simultaneous operations against suspected hubs of unauthorized Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations in the province.

The twin raids in Alicia town resulted in the apprehension of more than 200 foreign nationals allegedly engaged in running illicit Pogo activities. The coordinated enforcement action underscores growing concerns over the proliferation of unlicensed online gaming ventures in the region.

Local government officials have pledged to strengthen oversight mechanisms and coordinate with national agencies to prevent further expansion of illegal gambling networks. The investigation aims to identify local facilitators and determine the extent of operations being conducted in the municipality.

The crackdown reflects broader efforts by authorities across Mindanao to curb unauthorized gaming enterprises that operate without Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation approval and circumvent regulatory requirements.
