IPIL — School administrators and law enforcement in Zamboanga Sibugay province have joined forces to combat growing safety challenges facing educational institutions. The Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office and the DepEd Zamboanga Sibugay Division formalized their cooperation through a memorandum of understanding signed Thursday afternoon, establishing what officials are calling Project AKLAT, a collaborative initiative designed to protect schools from physical threats and digital risks.
The partnership represents a coordinated approach to school security that combines police expertise with education sector resources. Under the agreement, both agencies will work to implement preventive measures, develop safety protocols, and establish rapid response mechanisms to address incidents that may threaten students and staff.
The initiative comes amid rising concerns about school security across the Philippines, where administrators face mounting pressure to ensure safe learning environments. By formalizing cooperation between law enforcement and education officials at the provincial level, authorities hope to create a replicable model for protecting schools in Mindanao's conflict-affected regions.
Project AKLAT is expected to encompass both physical security enhancements and digital safety awareness programs, reflecting the dual nature of contemporary threats to educational institutions. Officials indicated the program will include training for school personnel and community engagement efforts to foster a culture of safety.
