Zamorin family head of Kozhikode passes away
The head of the prominent Zamorin family of Kozhikode has died, marking another transition for the storied royal household. He had assumed leadership of the family just months earlier.

The Zamorin family of Kozhikode has lost its current patriarch, who resided in Chinthavalappu in Kozhikode City. His death marks the second leadership change in the family within a brief span, continuing a period of transition for one of Kerala's historically significant royal families.
The deceased had taken charge as family head in June 2025, following the passing of K.C. Ramachandran Raja, a management expert whose tenure as leader had lasted only a few months. This succession reflects the challenges the Zamorin household has faced in recent times.
The Zamorin dynasty, also known as the Samuthiri, ruled the Malabar Coast for centuries before the advent of colonial rule. Though their political sovereignty ended with Indian independence, the family has continued to hold cultural and historical significance in Kerala.
