Zetrix AI suspension won't disrupt road tax, traffic fine services

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said on Tuesday that the suspension of Zetrix AI will have no impact on the Road Transport Department's (JPJ) core services. The public can proceed normally with paying traffic summonses and renewing vehicle road tax through the MyJPJ mobile application and online portal, Loke said.

The minister's statement came after the government suspended Zetrix AI, a chatbot system used to assist citizens with administrative queries. The suspension followed concerns over the system's responses and its operational reliability.

Loke emphasised that JPJ's essential functions remain fully operational and accessible to vehicle owners. He urged Malaysians to continue using the MyJPJ platform for routine transactions, noting that alternative channels remain available for those requiring additional assistance.

The transport ministry has not indicated when Zetrix AI services will be restored. Officials said they are conducting a comprehensive review of the system before determining next steps. In the interim, JPJ staff and existing customer service channels will handle inquiries that would typically be directed to the AI system.
