The helicopter, carrying four passengers and two crew members, crashed in a remote area of Marondera district on Wednesday afternoon, police said. Government spokesperson Nick Mangwana confirmed the incident in a statement posted on social media, noting that initial information suggested there were no survivors among those on board.
The aircraft was carrying a high-profile businessman among its passengers, though officials did not immediately release the identities of those aboard. Emergency responders were deployed to the crash site in the rural region southeast of Harare, the capital.
Police said they would release additional details once investigations at the scene were complete. The cause of the crash has not been determined, and authorities indicated that a fuller account of those on board would be provided following initial assessment of the incident.
