Zomato sees healthy food orders surge as younger users lead shift

Healthy food options are gaining significant traction on Zomato, with such dishes now accounting for 7.5 per cent of total orders, marking a substantial increase from 5.3 per cent recorded two years ago, according to the company's latest data.

The growth trajectory reveals a shifting consumer preference towards nutritious meals, a trend particularly pronounced among younger demographics. Users aged below 25 are adopting healthy food options at a faster rate compared to their older counterparts, suggesting generational differences in dietary priorities and health consciousness.

The 41 per cent increase in healthy food's share of orders underscores broader changes in Indian consumer behaviour as urbanisation, digital literacy, and growing awareness of nutrition converge. The surge comes amid intensifying competition in India's food delivery sector, where platforms vie to cater to diverse customer preferences.

Zomato's expansion of health-focused menu offerings reflects market demand, with restaurants also diversifying their menus to capture this segment. The data points to a maturing market where convenience no longer trumps wellness considerations for a significant portion of users.
