MANILA — Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri raised concerns on Tuesday about the underutilization of Tesda training centers in Bukidnon, noting that some facilities he helped establish are being diverted from their original mission.

During Senate deliberations, Zubiri disclosed that several of the technical training centers in the province have been converted into storage facilities and multipurpose buildings rather than serving their intended function of providing vocational and skills training to residents.

The senator's remarks highlight ongoing challenges with infrastructure utilization in provincial areas, where facilities constructed with development funding sometimes fail to achieve their targeted outcomes. Tesda centers are designed to offer affordable training programs in various technical fields to boost employment prospects and economic productivity.

Zubiri did not specify the exact number of affected facilities or provide additional details about the circumstances leading to their repurposing. His comments underscore the need for stronger oversight mechanisms to ensure that government-funded training infrastructure in Bukidnon and other provinces are properly maintained and operated as intended.
