About Kattiya Indaravijaya

Key facts Role: Chief executive officer Organisation: Kasikornbank (KBank) Country: Thailand Sector: Banking Headline figures: 2025 net profit attributable to shareholders of THB49.6 billion; K PLUS app with more than 20 million users Kattiya Indaravijaya is steering one of Thailand's biggest banks through a year of war-driven uncertainty. In June 2026 the chief executive of Kasikornbank (KBank) warned that the prolonged conflict in the Middle East had hurt some customers' ability to repay. She said the impact would show more clearly in the second half, and that businesses linked to that market make up about 10 per cent of the bank's loan book, the Bangkok Post reported. KBank kept its loan-growth target of zero to 2 per cent. In March she received the 2026 CEO Thailand Prime Award from the business magazine BrandAge. The role KBank is Thailand's third-largest lender by total assets, according to the Bangkok Post. It reported net profit attributable to shareholders of THB49.6 billion for 2025, broadly flat on the year and the highest among the country's listed banks, according to the bank and The Nation. As chief executive, Kattiya sets strategy across retail, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) and corporate banking, wealth management and the group's subsidiaries. She also oversees Thailand's leading mobile-banking franchise. KBank says its K PLUS mobile banking app holds around 30 per cent of the Thai market, with more than 20 million users, and the app has won BrandAge's most-admired mobile banking brand award for seven consecutive years. Background She has spent her entire career at the bank. After a marketing degree from Chulalongkorn University, she joined what was then Thai Farmers Bank as a relationship manager in manufacturing and agricultural lending, analysing credit and project feasibility. A bank scholarship took her to the University of Texas at Austin for an MBA. She worked through the 1997 financial crisis as a vice-president, when KBank was one of only two Thai banks able to raise fresh capital. She later ran the retail business division and became chief financial officer in 2010, then co-president in 2016. In April 2020 she succeeded Banthoon Lamsam as chief executive, becoming the first woman and the first person from outside the founding Lamsam family to run the bank in its 75-year history, the Bangkok Post reported. Caution first In 2025 and 2026 she has put caution first. The Nation reported that, in presenting 2025 results, she said KBank and its subsidiaries were operating "cautiously" while pursuing the bank's "3+1" strategy and productivity drive. The bank cut credit-loss provisions by 14 per cent that year. For 2026 the bank has announced a "customer strategy" of offering "the right solutions at the right time" to each segment. She has also kept pressure on climate transition. Speaking at KBank's Earth Jump seminar in June, she said the bank remained committed to net-zero emissions by 2050. "The transition to net zero is not solely the responsibility of large corporations," she said, arguing that SMEs across supply chains must also change. Regional influence Her regional influence comes through KBank's role in Thai corporate and SME finance and its digital platforms. The quality of its loan book is also a bellwether for how external shocks such as US tariffs and Middle East conflict spread through Thailand's economy. She named both as key risks this year. “The transition to net zero is not solely the responsibility of large corporations,” — Kattiya, at KBank's Earth Jump seminar in June What to watch next: second-half asset quality as the Middle East exposure plays out, whether KBank reaches the double-digit return on equity it has targeted for 2026, and whether its customer strategy protects its digital lead as rivals prepare virtual banks. She ranks 23rd because she runs one of Thailand's most profitable banks and its best-known digital-banking franchise, and was the first person from outside the founding family to hold the job.
