About Lalisa 'Lisa' Manobal
Key facts Role: Recording artist and actor Organisation: Independent (solo career; own management company LLOUD Co.) Country: Thailand Sector: Media, culture & sport Headline figures: "SaWaDiKa" video passed 70.8 million YouTube views by the next day; Instagram following of 106 million (March 2026) When the music video for "SaWaDiKa" went online on 4 September, it was a pop release and a national advertisement at once. Lalisa Manobal, the Thai rapper, singer and actor known worldwide as Lisa, filled it with tuk-tuks, Thai trains, Muay Thai, Chula kites and the Hua Lamphong railway station. By the next day it had passed 70.8 million YouTube views, which The Nation reported as the highest first-24-hour count on the platform worldwide in 2026. The single leads her new EP, PRESS PLAY, due on 23 October. It also comes just before "VIVA LA LISA", four nights at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in November. Caesars says the run makes her the first K-pop artist to stage a Las Vegas residency. Reach and ownership Lisa does not run a ministry or a company balance sheet. Her power is reach, and she increasingly controls how it is used. In 2024 she launched her own management company, LLOUD Co., to showcase what Caesars' announcement calls "her overall vision in music and entertainment". Her solo records come out through LLOUD in partnership with RCA Records. Caesars says she holds three Guinness World Records set in 2023, including the most Instagram followers for a K-pop artist, and put her following at 106 million in March 2026. She is also the first solo K-pop winner at both the MTV Video Music Awards and the MTV European Music Awards, and is a house ambassador for Louis Vuitton and the face of Bulgari. Background From Buriram in Thailand, Lisa trained in Seoul and rose to fame as a member of BLACKPINK. Her solo career under her own banner took off in 2024 with "Rockstar", whose video put Bangkok's Yaowarat Road at the centre of its visual identity. According to The Nation, that video drew 32.4 million views in its first day. Her first full-length album, Alter Ego, came out on 28 February 2025. It entered the Billboard 200 at No. 7 with 45,500 equivalent album units and topped Billboard's Top Album Sales chart, making her the second BLACKPINK member with a solo top-10 album. The same month she made her acting debut as Mook in the third season of HBO's The White Lotus. Caesars says she is now working on her first major film role, in TYGO, part of the Extraction universe. The past year The past year has been busy. Lisa made her solo Coachella debut in April 2025 and finished BLACKPINK's sold-out DEADLINE World Tour. Tickets for all four Las Vegas dates sold out in less than 10 minutes, according to The Nation. Time Out Bangkok describes PRESS PLAY as a six-track project billed as her most personal work yet, tracing her path from Buriram to sold-out arenas around the world. Regional weight Her regional weight is clearest in Thailand's tourism push. As the Tourism Authority of Thailand's Amazing Thailand Ambassador, she fronts a campaign that TAT said on 15 September had generated more than 448 million media exposures and more than THB567m in publicity value. TAT stressed that this was a publicity valuation, not tourism revenue. It also cited Traveloka data showing international demand for travel to Thailand up 10% in 2026 and domestic demand up 25%. The "SaWaDiKa" shoot in late July 2026 used six Bangkok locations and more than 100 Thai crew members. The Thailand Film Office published the location list and invited fans to visit. What to watch: the release of PRESS PLAY on 23 October and how it charts. "Always Lalisa", a documentary directed by Sue Kim, is set to open in cinemas worldwide on 12 October after a Toronto International Film Festival premiere, The Nation reported. The Las Vegas shows run on 13, 14, 27 and 28 November, and her Extraction-universe film is still to come. The next test is whether a Thai artist with her own company can turn a record-breaking video into lasting commercial and cultural leverage. Lisa ranks 28th because few people in Asia can command attention like she does, and she now pairs that reach with ownership of her career and an official role in Thailand's soft-power strategy. She has less formal decision-making power than the office-holders above her.
