From oil to sovereign investing to banking, Axiata’s new chief wants the telecoms group run like a smart asset manager.

Mr. Nik Rizal Kamil Nik Ibrahim Kamil became Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Axiata Group on 1 June 2026. In August he reported his first results: underlying profit for the first half more than doubled to RM717.2 million. In October the GSMA named him to its board for 2027–2028.
